Teething troubles!
I had the bike delivered to me by the dealer - upon first running it was apparent straight away that some work was needed. The engine would not tick over, the revs were not coming down cleanly at all. First job was to strip the SH1/20 carb and give it a good clean. Noticed straight away that the float needle had a very defined ridge around the rubber tip, so I guess that would explain very indifferent performance. That was quickly replaced along with an upjet for the main jet to take into account the Clubman. 110 main duly fitted I took it out for a spin - 100 yards up the road and the bike was revving it's head off! Time to get it down to the workshop bench at Milton Keynes Scooter Club. A good move as it turned out as whilst there (for a good 6 weeks!) a whole host of niggling little problems arose. I found that whilst fitting an electronic ignition kit, the crank was actually bent, you could see the flywheel going in and out, up and down when turning it over by hand...much amusement as 5 or 6 blokes were called upon to test their eye sight..yep, not just me, the crank was indeed, very bent!
A GP crank fitted, meanwhile at least 3 trips to Bedlam Scooters because the elec kit was faulty, or so I thought..actually through a long and laborious process of elimination I found that the blue CDI was faulty, that changed and bingo - the bike fired up - lovely stuff!
