"You don't wanna do that!!"
The thing with this scooter lark is that everyone suddenly becomes an expert in the face of a problem. I knew by now that I wanted to ditch the SH1/20 and go for the 25mm PHBL - with one eye on the future fitment of a performance kit. Back to the stock 175 conversion though, it just wasn't doing much for me. By now I had changed the crank and pretty much rebuilt the top and bottom end in the process. New electronic kit and all the benefits that brings. But, the scooter was still painfully slow - and siezing had become an everyday event - almost! Messing around with the jetting brought some temporary relief, but I was beginning to wonder about the 175 kit. I knew that I had a TV175 cylinder head fitted, which was a sound platform to start tuning with, but couldn't get the idea of the GT186 kit (take my advice, Revival Scooters in Melksham, Wilts have a GT demonstrator - go deh and ride it!) or a Mugello 186 kit out of my mind - part reason for buying finally the 25mm PHBL kit from Ital Scooters at one of the parts fairs - so be it, here it comes.. "It won't work" some said, "There's no point - use a Jetex" others opined - well, here it is, bought and ready to go on, damn everyone, sometimes you just gotta go with what you feel is right!
